Prop Maud Muir has been a key player for both England and Gloucester-Hartpury

Maud Muir has not known much other than winning in her rugby career so far.

The prop, crowned a world champion with England last month, has only lost one game for the Red Roses in her 48 international caps - the 2021 World Cup final - and the theme is much the same domestically.

Since she signed for Gloucester-Hartpury in 2022, they have gone on to win three successive Premiership Women's Rugby titles and lost only six matches of their past 55.

In Gloucester-Hartpury's first game of the new campaign last Sunday, the 24-year-old barrelled over as one of six try scorers in the statement 40-14 win against Saracens.

"It is good how much match experience I have had," Muir told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"I've played quite a few games in the last couple of years. I do feel very confident but I'm also excited because I have so much more to learn still."

Trick or Treat? Last Friday night in the PWR season opening match Harlequins put the frighteners on Loughborough Lightning in a 52-42 thriller.

Saturday’s treat will see three-time winners Gloucester-Hartpury travel to Sandy Park to kick-off the weekend’s action against Exeter Chiefs.

In a repeat of last season’s PWR final Gloucester-Hartpury faced familiar rivals Saracens in the final fixture of the opening weekend. The reigning champions ran in six tries to beat Saracens 40-14 in a match that featured 11 internationals from England and Canada who played in the World Cup Final just four weeks ago.

Exeter Chiefs who are without Ireland co-captain Edel McMahon (who will miss the rest of the season due to an upcoming knee surgery), put in a solid performance against PWR newcomers Ealing Trailfinders. The Chiefs were leading convincingly 24-0 in the 49th minute until Kate Zackery and Georgia Ponsonby reduced the deficit to 24-12 in a positive end for the debutants.

Exeter with an away win under their belt will be hoping that some of the magic from hosting the Rugby World Cup matches at Sandy Park will rub off on the home side. All the pressure will be on the visitors who have only lost six matches in their past 55. World Cup winner and Gloucester-Hartpury prop Maud Muir believes the team that “adapts and comes together quickest” will be the team that comes out top this season.
