A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was seriously injured in Dungannon, County Tyrone.

The woman, who is in her 40s, is in hospital after sustaining a serious leg injury at a property in Altmore Drive.

It was reported to police at about 11:30 GMT on Saturday.

"Officers attended and administered first aid until colleagues from other emergency services arrived," said Ch Insp Graham Dodds.

The man, who is also in his 40s, was later arrested in the Armagh area and remains in custody.

Forensic officers remain at the scene on Sunday afternoon.
