Ben: It's gameweek 10 and I haven't owned an Arsenal defender once. Am I cooked? But seriously, would you say Arsenal defenders are a 'must own' and if so which would you go for.

Haha definitely not cooked... but time to get one (at least).

The three with attacking threat are Gabriel, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori. Gabriel is the most nailed on and should play every league game (assuming he stays fit). Timber and Calafiori are reasonably nailed on but might miss the odd game with Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly in reserve. From open play Timber and Calafiori are the most attacking, with Gabriel's significant attacking threat coming from set-pieces.

Gabriel is easily the best for DefCon too out of the three. All things considered, if I could only pick one it would be Gabriel.

  6. Should you still have Simons?published at 16:43 GMT 31 October

    FPL Q&A

    Xavi SimonsImage source, Getty Images

Stuart: How much longer would you give Xavi Simons to adjust to the Premier League? Who would you recommend as a good replacement in FPL?

I would sell him immediately. Assuming you already have Antoine Semenyo then top replacement would be Bryan Mbeumo - if you can afford. If you don't have enough money in the bank then Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace has great fixtures and is off the back of a brace at Anfield in the cup.

  7. Gyokeres or Mateta?published at 16:39 GMT 31 October

    FPL Q&A

Scott: Would you stick with Gyokeres (Burnley and Sunderland) or transfer him out for Mateta (Brentford and Brighton) before the international break?

Tough one. I have both of these. I moved Jarrod Bowen to Jean-Philippe Mateta this week...

I think I would do Viktor Gyokeres to Mateta as, although the former has decent fixtures, he isn't providing enough returns to justify his price tag. Whereas Mateta is cheaper, has good fixtures too and is returning more reliably (better xG than Gyokeres too so should be sustainable).

  8. What to do about Saliba?published at 16:34 GMT 31 October

    FPL Q&A

    William SalibaImage source, Getty Images

Dean: Based on Saliba being a doubt, is it worth it to take a hit to transfer him to a Gabriel or Timber if money isn't really an issue.

I don't usually like a hit transferring from one defender from the same team to another but on this occasion I like it.

As you mentioned, William Saliba might miss out so makes sense from that point of view. Also, long term it's better to get Gabriel or Jurrien Timber in as they both have superior goal threat to Saliba. So even if the hit doesn't work out straight away, it should pay off in the future with attacking returns.

Out of Gabriel and Timber I prefer Gabriel. Better on the DefCon and more nailed on.

Gone big on Arsenal and Crystal Palace targeting favourable fixtures while getting assets with big potential.

Likewise with Nick Pope and Nick Woltemade, targeting the West Ham fixture with two assets who have done well so far this season.

Bryan Mbeumo is in great form and faces a poor Nottingham Forest side while Yankuba Minteh is at home to newly promoted Leeds United.

Anyone on a free hit this week?

Truth be told, I've thought about it. Having said that, I look at my team and think about it every week.

Here's how FPL Heisenberg would be lining up in gameweek 10 if he was to hit the free hit chip...

  11. Mbeumo or Sarr?published at 16:24 GMT 31 October

    FPL Q&A

Mbeumo and SarrImage source, Getty Images

Cryus: Who is the better option this week - Mbeumo or Sarr?

Hard to look past Bryan Mbeumo. Underlying numbers are strong and only one midfielder (Antoinee Semenyo) has more points than him this season.

However, Ismaila Sarr is £1.6m cheaper so if you can use that extra money to improve another area of your squad next Gameweek then Sarr might be the way to go.

  12. What about Wirtz?published at 16:20 GMT 31 October

    FPL Q&A

    Florian WirtzImage source, Getty Images

Dave: How long can I realistically keep Florian Wirtz thinking he has to come good this week? And similarly Tijjani Reijnders after his initial burst on to the Fantasy scene?

Wirtz I would 100% sell. He may well come good at some point but his minutes don't seem guaranteed at the moment and you're missing out on alternatives who have good potential such as Bryan Mbeumo and Ismaila Sarr.

Tijjani Reijnders is also underperforming but at his price point he isn't a must sell. He's on my bench this week, if at some point there's a good opportunity to sell him I will do, but for now I'm happy with him on my bench.

  13. Van De Ven or Cucurella?published at 16:17 GMT 31 October

Harry: Would you start Van De Ven or Cucurella?

Close one, but start Micky van de Ven, they both play each other so I'd favour the player with the home fixture. Always a chance that goalscoring form continues too now his confidence is high and he has a manager who focuses on set pieces.

  16. Who to bench?published at 16:09 GMT 31 October

    FPL Q&A

    FPL Heisenberg

Semenyo, Ndiaye and FernandezImage source, Getty Images

Matthew: Benching headache - Semenyo, Ndiaye, Enzo - bench one!

For me, Antionee Semenyo plays virtually every game (I'd only look to bench vs Arsenal). Yes he's away to Manchester City this week but I'm fully expecting Bournemouth to score in that one, and if they do, Semenyo is likely to be involved.

Iliman Ndiaye faces Sunderland who have done well, but they are still a newly promoted side so I wouldn't bench him. He's on penalties and good for DefCon as well.

Therefore, as tough as it is to bench Enzo Fernandez, out of the three you provided I'd bench him. Likely to be the deepest of the three you mentioned from open play and doesn't do well on DefCon either.

  17. If not Haaland, who to captain?published at 16:06 GMT 31 October

    FPL Q&A

    Erling HaalandImage source, Getty Images

Anon: Erling Haaland is the obvious captain, but who would you go for if you couldn't pick him?

Gabriel is a genuine alternative to Haaland for the captaincy. Arsenal have only conceded three goals this season in all competitions - so a clean sheet at Burnley for Gabriel is very likely. Gabriel's also amazing at attacking set pieces and he's decent for defensive contributions too.

  18. How to make a wildcard worthwhile?published at 16:02 GMT 31 October

    FPL Q&A

Scott: How many transfers make it a worthwhile use of a wildcard?

So for me it's usually a minimum of five transfers. However, with the extra transfers we get given in GW16 (five Free Transfers for AFCON) that is almost an extra wildcard so I don't mind people being looser with their first one.

If you can make at least four changes to significantly better your starting 11 then go for the wildcard, safe in the knowledge you'll get five free transfers in Gameweek 16.

    Thomas Woods
BBC Sport FPL writer, best finish 9,100th

Don't be put off by Erling Haaland's first blank in forever at Aston Villa last week - he is still the best FPL captain this week.

Bournemouth have a good defence, but they are miles better at home.

Nine of their 11 goals conceded have been on the road, so you can captain the Norwegian juggernaut with confidence at Etihad Stadium.

It's an even easier choice given how Liverpool are playing at the moment - would you take a punt on Mohamed Salah against an Aston Villa defence that just kept Haaland at bay?

    I wouldn't.
