Liverpudlian duo Jemini singing Cry Baby was today voted by Song For Europe viewers as their choice for this year's UK entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003.

The winning song was written and composed by Martin Isherwood.

Over 100,000 votes were cast in this year's Song For Europe which was presented by Terry Wogan today (Sunday 2 March) at 4.35pm on BBC ONE.

The voting method for this year's programme followed the classic Eurovision Point system with six regions of the UK (South, North, Midlands, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) awarding 12, 10, or 9 points.

Each region was represented by a special celebrity guest - Esther Rantzen, Nicholas Parsons, UK 2002 Eurovision heroine Jessica Garlick, comedians Mel and Sue, Jo Mace and Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker.

Jemini will represent the UK at Eurovision 2003 which takes place in Riga, Latvia on 24 May.

It will be broadcast live on BBC ONE with Terry Wogan providing his usual commentary on one Europe's biggest and most notorious music competitions.
