Drivers on the M6 motorway were brought to a standstill on Sunday morning by sheep on the carriageway.

The livestock halted traffic in both directions on the Warwickshire stretch of the M6, between junction one for Rugby and junction two for Coventry.

National Highways took to social media to warn drivers to avoid the area at about 08:00 GMT.

The carriageways was quickly reopened once the animals were rounded up, after police and traffic officers were called to the scene.
