Hundreds of walkers have covered more than 4,700 miles in a challenge across two counties

The Walk This May challenge was part of National Walking Month and was run by wellbeing groups and Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, a non-profit organisation that promotes sport and fitness.

Over two weeks, free walks took place on easy ground at a relaxed pace, ranging from 10 to 90 minutes, and offering people a way to get active and socialise, Herefordshire Council said.

People who missed the challenge can still join a group, the council added. Organisations running groups include the Ramblers, external in Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Council, which has a Health Walks, external scheme.
