    Frauds and scams
The New York Fed has compiled a list of frauds and scams.Off-site link One example is listed below.

"The Federal Reserve Bank of New York has become aware of a scam involving videos claiming that at birth, every US citizen has a 'secret' account established at a Federal Reserve Bank that could be used by that individual to buy items or pay off loans or debts. These claims are fraudulent and false. There are no such accounts—they do not exist now, nor have they ever existed. This is an internet hoax that has caused much financial pain to the public.

Please be advised that the Federal Reserve provides banking services only for depository institutions like banks and credit unions. Individuals do NOT have accounts at the Federal Reserve."
