Blessed with clear skies, March 29 dawned as a perfect day to admire the cherry blossoms at their peak bloom in Tokyo, with many visiting the well-trod hotspots to soak in the views as the daytime high cleared 20 degrees.

The warm spring weather drew many to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in the capital's Shinjuku Ward.

Families and groups of friends were seen spreading out picnic sheets in a variety of colors across the grounds, each celebrating "hanami" (cherry blossom viewing) in their own way, enjoying plenty of drinks and food.
