Honda Motor Co. has developed a vehicle modeled after Koraidon, a “legendary” character from the popular Pokemon video game franchise.

The automaker unveiled the Honda Koraidon at its headquarters in Tokyo on March 7.

Introduced in the “Pokemon Scarlet” game released in 2022, Koraidon, a reptilian monster, can carry the protagonist while traveling.

The Honda Koraidon is a red-colored, motorcycle-shaped vehicle made with urethane and other materials to express the character’s dynamism.

The prototype is not yet operational, but Honda intends to eventually make it drivable.

Honda said it was inspired to develop the vehicle after learning that a team of volunteer engineers at Toyota Motor Corp. was working on a similar project with a different Pokemon character.

Honda proposed the Koraidon project to The Pokemon Company last year.

“We decided the direction (for the vehicle), thinking how we could make children excited and happy,” Honda’s project leader said.
