Remarkably, this will be the much-lauded Cuban American artist and writer Coco Fusco’s first US survey. For the past three decades, the New York–based Fusco has deployed performance, photography, and video, among other media—often with a biting satiric edge—to dissect cultural and racial stereotypes and falsities. The exhibition borrows its title from a recently published Thames & Hudson monograph on the artist, carrying articles by Fusco and various luminaries in the field—essential reading for a full appreciation of the work of this singular artist and thinker.
