“I take a seat in a cramped, rusted chair. Across from me sits a gorilla in some sort of crown and a man whose face could only be described as Abbathian. It’s time for my first performance review at AMG Headquarters, and things aren’t looking great. “Atmospheric nü metal/free jazz? German dance music? What are we, discount Pitchfork?” Druhm bellows between frustrated simian grunts. I turn towards the head honcho for mercy, but instead, he fixes me with an eldritch stare. The words don’t pass his lips—they appear directly in my skull like a psychic command: “Brutal death metal.” He hands me a grime-encrusted CD which reeks of beer and seaweed. German brutal death metal veterans Stillbirth are responsible for this fetid package, which lies before me. It’s Survival Protocol, their ninth full-length.” Surviving or thriving?
Slam
Internal Bleeding- Settle All Scores Review
“Few bands influence outshine their immediate popularity as much as Internal Bleeding. The founding fathers of slam, the lynch pins of New Yawk style thuggin and brawling, have been a pivotal DNA strain of death metal since debut Voracious Contempt spat in the face of human decency back in 1995. But the years have been as gritty to the band as their music, with infamous production issues, perpetual lineup shuffles, and tragic deaths littering their storied careers. The band have remained unbroken, and now seven years later have returned with a semi-reconstructed lineup, a new label, and a new album in tow.” Let the blood run red on Strong Island.
Kill Everything – Headless Cum Dumpster Review
“In terms of subtlety and nuance, brutal death represents an oil vs water scenario. Illustrating the point, Texan purveyors of repugnant, stupidly heavy slam-infected brutal death, Kill Everything, return with the charmingly titled Headless Cum Dumpster, the long-gestating follow-up to their well-received 2018 debut, Scorched Earth. Time passed has brought in changes to the band’s line-up since their thumping debut, with ex-Devourment gurgler Mike Majewski leaving the fold, bassist Mike Leach joining, and former bassist Brett Wilson switching to second guitar, teaming up with another ex-Devourment member in guitarist Brian Wynn.” Young, dumb, and full of…drums.

Open Kasket – Trials of Failure Review
“I’m a huge fan of picking up bands with little to no back catalog for review. Firstly, I’m notorious for overbooking myself in general life, which leaves only the most precious time slots for researching discographies. Secondly, I get to experience a band at their freshest with a mind unclouded by hype or expectation. Thirdly, I get to take full credit for exposing X or Y band to the greater AMG populace, which increases my POWERS. Enter Little Rock, Arkansas’ death metal/hardcore quintet Open Kasket and their debut record Trials of Failure.” Big sounds from Little Rock.
