US Avignon/Pontet Basket (NM1) has agreed to terms with 31-year-old DR Congolese-Belgian ex-international power forward Ruphin Kayembe (200cm-1992) for the new 2024-25 season. He will continue to play in France, where he was the top rebounder at Saint Thomas Basket Le Havre last season. In 36 NM1 games, he averaged 11.0ppg, 5.1rpg, and 1.3apg. In the 2023-24 season, he was named to Eurobasket.com All-French NM1 Honorable Mention. Prior to that, he played for La Rochelle (ProB) for two seasons (2021-23). Kayembe was a member of the DR Congolese Senior National Team between 2018 and 2021.
Kayembe has played in Slovenia (Maribor), France (Chalons Reims, ALM Evreux, Denain Voltaire, Vendee Challans, and Souffelweyersheim) and Slovenia.
He has won many awards during his career, including playing in the final of French NM1 Play-Offs in 2017. He was also voted Eurobasket.com All-French ProB Domestic Player of the Year in 2018.
