This article reviews Lynch's book, which aims at investigating and offering a comprehensive approach to the practice-based teaching of high-quality health, physical education, and well-being. The book is an excellent resource for educators, researchers, policymakers, and anyone interested in gaining fresh knowledge on contemporary childhood physical education, health, and well-being perspectives. Lynch notes that despite the importance of physical education, there is a gap in its practice, and its implementation needs to progress. Socijalna kognicija uključuje procese obrade socijalnih signala i spoznaju o ljudima kao o društvenim bićima (spoznaja o njihovim osjećajima, namjerama i motivaciji, znanjima i vjerovanjima). Općenito, ona se odnosi na sve kognitivne procese koji su aktivni u opažanju ponašanja i zaključivanju o mentalnim stanjima drugih ljudi. Odstupanja u razvoju socijalne kognicije mogu se prepoznati već u dojenačkoj dobi. U ovom radu prikazana su obilježja socijalne kognicije u tri različita tipa teškoća. Skupine djece s poremećajem iz spektra autizma (PSA-om), posebnim jezičnim teškoćama (PJT-om) i intelektualnim teškoćama pokazuju odstupanja u socijalnoj kogniciji, no njihova se obilježja socijalne kognicije razlikuju. U ranom razdoblju dok djeca još nemaju dijagnozu, moguće su teškoće u razlikovanju ovih poremećaja zbog sličnih obilježja. Selektivni mutizam (SM) rijedak je anksiozni poremećaj, obilježen odsutnošću govora u socijalnim situacijama u kojima se od osobe očekuje da govori, čak i kada ona može govoriti u drugim situacijama. Cilj ovoga rada bio je: ispitati obilježja neverbalne komunikacije djece predškolske i rane školske dobi koja imaju selektivni mutizam, utvrditi i opisati koja su obilježja zajednička djeci sa selektivnim mutizmom i onoj s poremećajem iz spektra autizma (PSA) u situaciji ispitivanja. Osim toga, cilj rada bio je: odrediti razlikovna obilježja djece sa selektivnim mutizmom i one s poremećajem iz spektra autizma u ispitnoj situaciji, radi dobivanja smjernica za lakši postupak dijagnosticiranja selektivnog mutizma. Obilježja neverbalne komunikacije ispitana su Opservacijskim protokolom za dijagnostiku autizma (ADOS-2; Lord i sur., 2012), a u istraživanju je sudjelovalo sedam djevojčica u dobi od 5 do 10 godina. Rana komunikacija: u čemu je tajna? Early communication: what is the secret? Stručni rad UDK: 81'232:159.9 SAŽETAK U članku je prikazan rani komunikacijski razvoj s obzirom na njegovu ulogu u ontogenezi i parametre procjene. Prikaz je rezultat dugogodišnjeg znanstveno-istraţivačkog i kliničkog rada u području rane komunikacije u Kabinetu za ranu komunikaciju. Taj je rad pokazao da je vaţnost rane komunikacije u njezinoj ulozi u kognitivnom i socio-emocionalnom razvoju djeteta, ali i činjenici da obiljeţja rane komunikacije daju informacije o ukupnom razvojnom profilu, osobito vaţne za rano otkrivanje poremećaja iz autističnog spektra ili značajno usporenog kognitivnog razvoja. Rani komunikacijski razvoj poklapa se s periodom ranog djetinjstva (0-6), te ima predjezično (0-2) i jezično razdoblje (2-6). Jezično je razdoblje uvelike istraţivano, a predjezično je bilo dugo zanemareno i ovaj je pregled usmjeren na njega. Tijekom toga razdoblja događaju se vaţni razvojni prijelazi-od predintencijske prema intencijskoj komunikaciji, te od predsimboličke prema simboličkoj i jezičnoj komunikaciji. Njihova procjena je vrlo sloţena i traţi interdisciplinarni pristup, temeljito poznavanje razvojnih promjena u više domena, izoštreno opaţanje i sintezu informacija iz više izvora (testovi i skale procjene, opaţanje ponašanja, podaci koje daju roditelji).
