• I opened file:///Users/gaborlengyel/Desktop/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php in Chrome, WP installer gives me the error message:

Error: PHP is not running</h1> <p>WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off.

But I checked my account at strato.de: PHP 8.3 is running, I tried it with and without PHP-Boost. Server is database-5003225818.webspace-host.com, Type is MySQL 5.7

If I understand your request correctly, you want to install WordPress on a Strato hosting account? Strato itself provides instructions (in German) for this here: https://www.strato.de/faq/hosting/Was-ist-WordPress-und-wie-kann-ich-es-installieren/

Note: you cannot access WordPress’s own files on your local computer. They must be located on the hosting where they are to run. See instructions.

    Hey there

It clearly looks like a server related issue and not WordPress specific issue. I recommend that you connect with your current hosting provider and explain them the situation, they will be able to assist you the best in this situation.

    Take care

Thank you, @threadi ! I haven’t known this. Now I installed WordPress through a new Strato account. But, please tell me: Does it have the whole functionality of WordPress.org or just the more restrictive functions of WordPress.com? And is it true that I can start to set up a website with any theme and then decide later, whether I want to switch to an other theme or buy one?

Any WordPress you install with a host of your choice will offer you all the possibilities and freedom that come with the free software available for download at wordpress.org. You can choose your own theme and plugins and are not restricted in any way.

There is also a general German-language support forum here: https://de.wordpress.org/support/forums/
