Very slow

We pay for the Pro version, but even just using the base free version of the plugin. It’s so slow. It use to have really great speed and I love the page building UX, it is amazing. but I’m constantly fighting it to get better performance.

Hi there,
Before any recommendation is offered, I’d like to highlight that Elementor is already optimized for speed. However, from a technical standpoint, there will inevitably be a small impact on performance, this happens with any page builder that you use. There are quite a number of steps to optimize your website for speed. Since this has been a bit of a widely asked question, our team has come up with a checklist of sorts with some good steps to take to ensure your website performs as best as possible. You may have a run through it below and see if it helps.

I do agree that Elementor is very optimized, but it just makes it all the more depressing to know that even as optimized as it is, it’s still so slow. I’ve spent the better part of the last two years trying to optimize our sites. I’ve read the guides you’ve listed above and many, many more but Elementor is just so heavy — it doesn’t matter what I seem to do, nothing can improve the pagespeed, except of course not use Elementor.
Like you said, there will always be an impact on performance from having a page builder plugin on the site. I’ve tried a couple of other page builder plugins / themes, but they are all still slow. The only page builder that isn’t slow is the built-in WP Blocks builder — but this is so painful to use. I really enjoy the UX of Elementor, I think it’s really intuitive and nice to build with.
The only other solution I can think of is to build the entire website with code; PHP templates and CSS. But this means huge amount of time or money developing the site.-

Kudos.
Hi there,
Completely understand where you’re coming from it can be incredibly frustrating to invest so much effort into speed optimization and still feel like you’re fighting a losing battle against page weight. The balance between visual flexibility and performance is always the trickiest part of WordPress development.
Before you make the massive leap to custom hand-coding in PHP and CSS, have you tested our Elementor Editor V4 experience on a staging site?
With V4, we completely re-engineered the editor’s core architecture around an atomic foundation and a CSS-first design system specifically to solve this exact issue:
Dramatically Reduced DOM Size Historically, element wrappers contributed heavily to HTML bloat. In V4, elements use single-div structures, producing far leaner, cleaner markup and much smaller page sizes.
Global CSS Classes & Variables Instead of inline styles and duplicated code attached to every single element, V4 lets you create reusable CSS classes. This drastically reduces output file sizes and speeds up rendering times for complex pages.
If you haven’t given it a shot yet, you can test it on a staging environment to see how it impacts your Core Web Vitals without rebuilding from scratch: Get Started with the Elementor Editor V4 ( https://elementor.com/help/get-started-with-the-elementor-editor-v4/ )
Kind regards,
