Version 2.5.x introduces Exception when API Key is invalid

    After upgrading from an unknown version to 2.5.2, an exception was introduced, where invalid api keys are crashing the site. Sadly i cannot provide any logs because now it works again after fixing the invalid key.

    Hi Tim!

    Okay, based on what I know now:

    • How long ago was it (approximately) since the last update? Was it from before 2.x?
    • Are you a Plausible CE user?
    • Did 2.5.3 fix the issue for you?

    • I have automatic updates enabled, so most likely version 2.5.0 or 2.5.1.
    • Yes.
    • It was already fixed when I provided a correct api key – but it still works in version 2.5.3. I don’t know if the underlying issue was fixed or not.

    Okay, in that case I think it’s safe to conclude that this issue is fixed.

    I just tested on 2.5.3 with CE and an invalid API key: no critical errors, and a notice was shown prompting me to enter a valid API token.

    Thanks for your work! Although in the future I will never contribute to the wordpress support forum again. But you have a github repo, so I will just create an issue there in the future.
