    Hello.

We run a multisite install with around 5k users.

The users.php page in the admin area timesout and fails to load. Disabling WordFence resolves the issue.

Seems to be the exact same issue as this post below, which is unresolved, and where the unoptimised code is identified.

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/very-slow-response-on-users-php-due-to-wordfence/

Is there any plans to resolve this bug?

Or alternatively, is there a hook / filter to remove your columns from the users listing.

    Thanks,

    Ian.

Hi @ianatkins, thank-you for reaching out about this.

I can find some history in 2023 when that post was made of us looking into the customer’s reports via email further, and can follow the issue tracker until a suitable update was put into production October 2023 (Wordfence 7.10.5):

Fix: Improved performance when viewing the user list on large multisites

Our testing and regular environments have thousands of users also – without this performance hit – so it may be appropriate to look into this case a little further in case there’s a different cause. Again, a diagnostic from a site suffering from the issue and any error log entries you have from the timestamp(s) it occurs would be extremely useful to understand the environment and any errors. If you need to send a separate email with error log entries, you can send it to the same address but make sure to manually write your username into the subject line so we can find it.

You can send diagnostics to wftest @ wordfence . com by using the link at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics, followed by “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond to us here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi @ianatkins,

I just ran a search for your username on our inbox and couldn’t find diagnostics or other logs sent over. Let us know here if you do send that over for us in the coming days, so that we can check for them.

    Peter.

We haven’t received a diagnostic as of today. If you have any further questions about the plugin update mentioned above, or the users page performance not improving after troubleshooting, by all means start up a new topic.

In addition, sending a diagnostic from one of the sites suffering from the issue and any error log entries you have from the timestamp(s) it occurs would be extremely useful. Please don’t forget to add your username in the subject line and tell us you’ve sent those when you open the new topic.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.
