    Hi,

I have currently implemented Cookiebot via Google Tag Manager (GTM). While this works perfectly for tags within GTM, several WordPress plugins on my site are injecting scripts directly into the source code, bypassing the GTM consent logic.

To resolve this, I would like to install the Cookiebot WordPress plugin to utilize its Auto-blocking feature for these local scripts.

My question is: Can I use the WordPress plugin strictly for the Auto-blocking functionality without configuring or enabling the cookie banner within the plugin settings? I want to ensure that the banner remains managed solely through GTM to avoid double banners or configuration conflicts.

    Best regards, Roy

    Hi Roy!

Unfortunately, that’s not possible, as in this case the Cookiebot script would be implemented twice — once from GTM and once from the plugin itself.
The GTM implementation loads asynchronously, so it doesn’t support auto-blocking. The most efficient approach in your particular case would be to use the plugin and enable the GTM integration from it (while pausing the Cookiebot script in GTM).
This will ensure no trackers are set prior to consent.
