Unable to Load WordPress Editor Nor Website
-
Hello,
I’m extremely new to website building and probably way out of my depths, but I made a mistake and now I’m unable to get back into my WordPress editor to undo it. If anyone can help me I would be so grateful.
Here is how things happened:
My website is hosted through DreamHost. I log into Dreamhost, click manage website, click Log In to WordPress. Usually that opens up the WordPress Web editor without needing any more information.
Now, my old website (created by my sister who did not use WordPress) is still active, and still somehow has control over the main slug margotmaxwell.com (which has not been affected by this mess-up). Not sure if this is relevant but I have an inkling both websites have a homepage called home. I digress..
So, in an attempt to takeover the main domain (because also I know very little about websites), from safari WordPress editor I went into general settings and hit a tab (I’m sorry I don’t remember which one) that was asking about domain names and it had an option to change the site name for my WordPress website and I added WP after the domain margotmaxwell.com/wp . Then I hit save.
That’s when everything got messed up. The page reloaded and then it just kept saying page not found with a black screen and a long list of blue topics on the left. But when I click on any of those it takes forever to load, and then pops up the same page and at the bottoms says “oops This could be a spelling error in the URL or the page has been removed.”
e.g. https://www.margotmaxwell.com/wp/wp-admin/plugins.php
When I go back to DreamHost to try and login to the WordPress editor it does not open the editor but this black page with the same error message. (Ironically, I cannot figure out how to upload an image here of what I see on my end when opening the site page)
Digging around in DreamHost, I found this warning message pop up immediately when I changed the WordPress site name:
[pid 2066496] fcgid_bridge.c(409): (32)Broken pipe: mod_fcgid: ap_pass_brigade failed in handle_request_ipc function
And these warning messages are more recent in the few hours since it happened:
[pid 2066496] fcgid_bridge.c(481): mod_fcgid: can’t apply process slot for /dh/cgi-system/php83.cgi
[pid 2327549] fcgid_bridge.c(409): (32)Broken pipe: mod_fcgid: ap_pass_brigade failed in handle_request_ipc function
If anyone has any information on what I did wrong and (more importantly) how on earth I can fix this, please send help!! Thank you!The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]
