Twitter Card Image Reliability
-
Hello. I understand I can even put a function in wordpress theme folder for twitter cards, but with that said I did notice that AIOSEO plugin provides the placement of the twitter card higher up in the </head> tag than other options I have looked at with other plugins.
Either way my problem is the same, when I create a NEW wordpress post with a new link url never used before with a brand new image never used the url of the image before and then even wait “like 4 minutes” before I test the post on twitter (X) roughly 6 out of 7 test posts will produce the large summary image on X. I am aware of acceptable size and file format. jpg for example and an image like 800 px width 400 height for an example that is only like even 100kb, but I still receive the reliability of 6 out of 10 producing the large summary image
Twitter bots reading robot file is also something I have considered, but Twitter validtor tool always shows that everything is pulled succesfully and have used a site like https://circleboom.com/twitter-card-validator-free also after installing plugin.
I reached out to my host, they said “maybe ModSecurity.” They disabled ModSecurity. the problem was still there the same.
I then decided to just purchase my own VPS, installed Plesk, disabeled ModSecurity myself on my new hosting provider with a new company and then another fresh wordpress install, but with AIOSEO, I still produce the same result of 6 out of 7.
My next plan of action as I await a response for thoughts on Twitter Card.
This page provided my AIOSEO does give me a great answer, but the article states “with sharing on Twitter because cached information may be old and not reflect what you’ve set in All in One SEO.”
But in this case, if you have read this post, you see I have created new urls, with new images with new image urls as I test this, so it isn’t old to begin with, but the advice of renaming URL SLUG in wordpress, uploading image again with new url as if it has never been uploaded before will eventually work on 1st, 2nd of 3rd try even! So I do have a extensive work around to “make sure I get a large summary image on twitter,” but clearly noone wants to “post the same article three times in 8 minutes or 15 minutes with new urls and new image urls just to wait” to see if Twitter (X) PULLS the large summary card image.
My next plan of action:
My next thought on my new test website with fresh new wordpress etc was changing Cache settings on my new VPS under PLESK because CACHE settings “are already optimized by default, but you can change them at any time on the Apache Settings” and I also thought about the Settings tab on Plesk for the wordpress install of my new test account that I provided in the “Link to the page you need help with:” for this article.
One default WordPress setting on my VPS is “Block directory browsing(can be reverted)” I could turn this OFF and NOT block directory browsing if I thought that had anything to do with the issue or I thought about the default wordpress setting of “Disable PHP execution in cache directories.”
Either way, on my non-test site that is live that I do not have listed on the “Link to the page you need help with:” my regular host currently cannot resolve the issue themselves on their server in, so that is why I decided to just purcahse a VPS and have control of settings myself for server under Plesk for a test account. I even also decided to just purchase regular hosting from another internet provider created another test wordpress account with AIOSEO plugin (that way I had another test again without me messing with settings on the server myself) and another hosting company with fresh wordpress with no other plugin except AIOSEO still produce the same result of brand new posts only producing twitter card large summary image roughly “6 out of 10” test posts.
