This is a great plugin – thank you for taking the time to write this. It’s by far the easiest I’ve found.

Regarding the ‘Strictly Necessary Cookies’ tab, is there any way to set this as enabled by default or is it the expected behaviour to have it set to disabled on first load if you go into the settings? It would just seem more intuitive to have this set to green / enabled and 3rd Party set to red / disabled by default.

    Thanks

    Geoff

    Hello Geoff,

    Thanks for your comments.

Please read more about the pre-ticked checkboxes here :
“Businesses will not be able to use pre-ticked boxes to gain user consent for the processing of their data under changes proposed by the European Parliament to new EU data protection laws.”

This means we can’t enable the Strictly Necessary Cookies by default, but the user can’t enable the 3rd party cookies or advanced cookies if the strictly necessary cookies are not enabled.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks for the reply.

This seems like overkill. If you look at the ICO website, and check out their Cookie solution, they mention “Some of the cookies we use are essential for the site to work.” within their cookie modal.

These would be necessary or essential cookies and are clearly set by default without any consent.

I realise you can’t comment on how they choose to deal with cookies, but if the main player in GDPR is still doing this with just over a fortnight to go until the 25th then how does that effect what we’re all doing out in the wild?

    Thanks

    Geoff
