Start ALM with a click

Hi, I have this shortcode: [ajax_load_more posts_per_page="6" post_type="project" pause="true"]

I’m using the pause parameter because I want the posts to load when I click a custom button.

I’ve been reading the plugin documentation and I don’t see a trigger for this. The closest one I found was ajaxloadmore.start(element), but I couldn’t get it to work. Could you help me?
