• I’m using the Vimeo Gallery WordPress plugin to display my Vimeo portfolio on my website. After installing Solid Security, my portfolio stopped loading completely.

Because I can’t afford to have my portfolio offline, I removed Solid Security. The gallery started showing again, but as soon as I clicked on another portfolio item, it would freeze. In the end, I had to restore a backup of my website to fix everything.

There may be a configuration that resolves this, but I couldn’t figure out what was causing the conflict. I’m sure Solid Security is a solid plugin overall, just sharing this so other Vimeo Gallery WordPress plugin users are aware of a possible issue.

    Hello @noa2noa,

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, and we’re here to help!

Based on your description, the behavior isn’t a typical outcome, and it usually points to a specific security setting blocking something that gallery plugins (including Vimeo embeds) rely on. Solid Security is designed to tighten up access to certain WordPress functions, which is great for protection, but it can sometimes interfere with plugins that need unrestricted access to things like REST endpoints or direct script execution.

To troubleshoot what setting could be breaking your Vimeo Gallery WP plugin, I’d recommend trying out the recommended settings adjustments here: Are there any known conflicts with the Solid Security plugin?

These four adjustments often fix conflicts without compromising overall security. If they don’t work, it would be great to get a little more context (theme, hosting environment, other active plugins) so we can isolate the cause.

I’d also recommend opening a support thread so we can better dig into the issue (and earn back the stars from you!).

Hope this helps, and let me know how it goes!

Hi, thanks for sending the link about the recommended settings adjustments. I’ve looked through it but can’t seem to find the actual post with the recommended settings. I might be overlooking it, is it listed under the FAQ section?

    Hi @noa2noa,

Yes, it’s under the FAQ items! Can you check if you see this section? https://share.zight.com/4guq09dn

It contains these recommendations that you’ll want to try one by one:

    • Allow Default Access to the REST API feature (Security > Settings > Advanced > WordPress Tweaks > API Access
    • Enable the XML-RPC feature (Security > Settings > Advanced > WordPress Tweaks > API Access
    • Disable the Default Ban List feature (Security > Settings > Features > Firewall > Ban Users)
    • Disable the Disable PHP in Plugins option (Security > Settings > Advanced > System Tweaks) Note: If the software is a theme or something that needs to execute a PHP script in the uploads directory, disable the other options instead.

We’re aware of the links not jumping into the intended section and rest assured, we’re looking into resolving this.

For now, let me know if you can see that section on your end.
