    What I’ve tried: – Re-uploading fresh copies of wp-login.php and index.php from a new WordPress download — same issue. – Temporarily renaming .htaccess to disable it — no change. – Creating a test info.php with just — it also downloads/shows raw code, confirming PHP isn’t executing at all.

    The entire site is down because nothing PHP-based runs. Is there any WordPress-specific cause for this (e.g., something in wp-config.php or database triggering it)? Or is this definitely a server/hosting configuration issue (PHP handler not working)?

    Any advice on what else I can check on the WordPress side before contacting the host?

    I moved this to the correct forum and removed the erroneous NSFW tag.

    Your site is not configured to interpret PHP files, it is transmitting PHP files instead. Speak your host provider. Once they correct that and install PHP, then your web server should work and you can proceed.
