• I’m running into a set of very strange issues related to editing users.

    1. I have a screencast of an issue with Chrome only, where if an admin hovers over “Login as this user” but does not click, and then clicks on “Edit Profile”, it logs the admin user in as that subscriber user. This does not occur in Firefox
    2. In both Edge and Chrome, if I edit a user’s profile before they are approved, I will sometimes get an error screen that just says “Something went wrong”, and when I go to the full directory of users, they will sometimes be approved, sometimes not. Then, if I go to edit the user again, it will deactivate or delete the user account entirely, and the edit screen will actually partially populate with my admin users details. (I can’t reliably duplicate this in Firefox, but it did happen once.)

I can provide admin access to the site if needed. I have not yet tried to disable all other plugins to see if this is happening because of a conflict, but I imagine that’s the next step.

I can reproduce your second issue when you first Approve the User from backend
then doing the Approve a second time from frontend with a page loaded before
the User was approved from backend ie with an outdated status value.

The “Something went wrong.” error message is the response when the Action from frontend is failing. A better UM solution would be to inform the User about a possible Action conflict and not terminate with a death page.

I have made an UM bug report about your second issue

Please never make that dangerous offer again. If the developer took you up on that they could have their plugin removed from this site and their accounts banned. It’s that serious.

@missveronicatv – thanks for the reply. This site is still in development, but we’re hoping to launch soon, so I will watch out for updates. And I won’t give you admin access! 🙂

FYI – on a hunch based on one your notes, I disabled Varnish on the server, and Breeze on the site, and this seems to have fixed the error. Not an ideal solution, but one that will let us launch the app. (I’m really not sure why this made a difference, as admin users should have been getting caches values, but the admin who was reporting the error has said it’s gone away.)

Still looking forward to seeing if y’all come up with a more comprehensive explanation and solution.
