Price filter induces broken layout

    Hi,

    I am experiencing a layout issue on my WooCommerce shop page.

    When using the native WooCommerce “Filter by Price” block, applying a price filter reloads the page with URL parameters (e.g. ?max_price=120). Upon reloading, the shop layout changes, resulting in huge side margins / incorrect container width. (Other filters (categories/attributes) work fine.)

    Specifically, this results in:

    • A reduced/narrowed container width.
    • Massive, incorrect margins.
    • Buttons and elements losing their WooCommerce-specific color schemes and styles.

    I am experiencing the same issue with the WOOF filter plugin (husky).

    Troubleshooting Steps Already Performed

    1. Database Cleaned: Removed empty and orphaned price-related metadata (_price, _sale_price, etc.).
    2. Lookup Tables: Fully regenerated WooCommerce product lookup tables.
    3. Plugins Checked: Disabled SEO (SureRank), Cookie Consent (SureCookie), caching plugins, and WPC product bundles.
    4. Theme Customizer & Code: Verified Astra catalog settings. Tested CSS grid overrides and PHP body_class injections (woocommerce-shop-page), which did not prevent Astra from shifting layout contexts.

    The root cause appears to be that WooCommerce’s filtered URL query handler breaks Astra’s detection of the product archive/shop template, forcing it to render using default/fallback page styling.

    Expected behavior

    The product category archive page should retain its proper shop container width, correct margins, and WooCommerce styling even when price query parameters are present in the URL, exactly as it does on the unfiltered page or when the other filters are used.

    Here is the reply from Astra support:

    “We were able to reproduce the issue, and the debug log shows the layout change is caused by a PHP fatal error coming from WooCommerce itself.

    I used the Debug Log Manager plugin on your staging site to view the error and you can see it from WP Dashboard > Tools > Debug Log Manager. Please check this screenshot: https://d.pr/i/LVBBbf

    Here is what happens:

    • When ?max_price is in the URL, the WooCommerce Product Filters block in your off-canvas filter sidebar runs a price query for each tax class used by your products.
    • One of those tax class values comes through empty (null), which WooCommerce does not expect, so it stops with this error: adjust_price_filter_for_tax_class(): Argument #2 ($tax_class) must be of type string, null given in woocommerce/src/Internal/ProductFilters/QueryClauses.php
    • The page stops rendering at that point, so the rest of the layout markup never loads and the shop container ends up narrowed.”

    The layout breaks because WooCommerce’s Product Filters block hits a fatal error inside WooCommerce’s own code (QueryClauses.php) when the price filter runs. The page stops rendering at that point, so Astra never gets to output the rest of the layout.”
