I can no longer switch from classic to block, even changing the default setting. This is the first review when clicking Details from the plugin (review by airbesi on November 14, 2024)

“In the latest version of WordPress 6.7 the Classic Editor doesnt work with post categories, the Classic Editor doesnt change or update the post categories, can you check this please ?”

It doesn’t work with Pages either.

    Hi @bajabarry

For your first issue, I tested this with WordPress 6.7.1 and Classic Editor 1.6.3 as well as 1.6.6.

I could see the Classic Editor whether I switched back and forth from setting the default Editor at Settings → Writing → Default editor for all users.

Can you try testing this with other plugins disabled to see if there might be an issue.

For the post categories, I also see that this looks to be caused by a plugin conflict and so it is worth exploring that.

The problem I experienced was with pages either created with, or converted to, blocks. I was able to edit them with the Classic editor and see the block code in the Text tab. But when trying to edit with the block editor using the switch to while in the Classic editor, or edit with from the Pages entry, There was an attempt but only the link displayed and the page was blank.

However, based on your disable suggestion, I created a test site with just the Classic plugin. My test did not replicate the problem. The site where I encountered the problem has been converted back to all Classic and I don’t have the time to attempt to try to figure out if another plugin, or something else was involved. The problem was not evident on 6.6.1.

Unfortunately there is always some risk of “breaking” the content when a post was started in the block editor and later edited with the classic editor. That is generally rare and doesn’t happen for “simple” content, or for very light editing.

This may get worse when a plugin is involved. Was thinking it may be good to add a (permanent) warning when a post containing blocks is edited with the classic editor/TinyMCE.

I absolutely hate blocks with my entire being. Adding blocks is the worse mistake WP has ever made. Now with the update, the classic plugin doesn’t work at all and I am pushed to use blocks!

Classic Editor has stopped working for me (pages) I just want to create a list on a page. Nothing shows on the page when I type BUT if I drag the mouse over what I just typed I see it.

    I HATE BLOCKS TOO!!
