I’ve got exactly the same Problem.
Updated our animal assistance site (www.tiervermittlungen.ch), and now, the visual Editor didn’t work.
Deactivate all plugins, it works.
Reactivate one by one, and when i reactivated the NextGen plugin, the visual Editor is gone again.
@develi
Deactivate all plugins, and then activate NextGEN Gallery. If the visual editor breaks, then it means that there must be a conflict with the theme. If it’s not broken, then it must be a conflict with one of the other plugins – you’ll need to try different combinations to determine that.
Please post back with the results.
Thanks.
@mweichert thx for the Input. i’m sorry, that i was not clear enough.
i did this before.
deactivate all plugins, Editor works correctly
activate plugin 1, works..
activate plugin 2, works..
activate plugin nextgen, visual Editor is dead.. =)
disable the plugin again, it works.
how can it be a conflict with the theme?
i know, it is an old theme (twentyeleven), but a 0815 wordpress one π
regards
@develi,
I think in this case you need to deactivate all plugins, activate NGG, verify that the editor works, and then activate other plugins one-by-one while checking the editor and determining which plugin causes the conflict.
Thanks.
@develi and I have the same problem in that the wordpress visual editor DOES NOT work when NGG is the only plugin active, i.e., all other plugin’s have been deactivated.
Further, the problem occurred when I was running the TWENTY THIRTEEN theme, latest version. I tried changing the theme to TWENTY FIFTEEN and the same problem occurred while running other plugins or with them all deactivated except NGG. The problem does not occur when all plugins, including NGG are deactivated.
I have tried to trash and reinstall the NGG – same problem. Could there be settings within the NGG plugin that cause the problem? It seems clear that the problem is between the NGG, together with whatever its settings are, and WordPress 4.8 and whatever its settings are.
@klokansoft
Thanks, that’s it. Opened WordPress.org in EDGE with NGG active and it worked fine. A BIG THANKS!!
Another “push” from MS away from IE to EDGE.

@klokansoft
Thx, works for me too =)
@dongeej
thx for explain again, what i was meaning =)
i’m happy, that this problem is just a browser thing and the NGG is working proberly!
It’s a header that NGG sends to IE. Here’s a little plugin that stops it:

@webaware – Thanks, again!
We are currently recommending your plugin as the correction for IE11 users experiencing this issue.

I have the same problem running IE11 with Win7 Enterprise – where do I place this additional code to stop the IE11 from disabling the visual editor ?

@singlecoil – The link above is pointing to code that can be downloaded (as a zip) and used as a plugin installed via Plugins > Add New … Upload Plugin.
Thanks!
