    After this new update(v4), this plugin has become very slow and unusable

    It takes seconds to load the number of items to be cleaned, and it was almost instantly using the previous version.

    I can’t clean my trash anymore, it looks like it is deleting items one by one instead of using a query to delete them all in one take like before.

    It deleted 2 or 3 posts, and I got “timeout”.

    My DB has 5GB+, and most of the time, I am getting “Error! timeout of 45000ms exceeded” for everything I try to do.

    The number of comments in trash is completely wrong; it says I have 17 of them, but I have only 3.

    Thank you for your detailed feedback.

    In the new version (v4), we changed the internal cleanup mechanism to rely on WordPress native functions instead of running direct SQL queries as we used to do in the previous version. This change was necessary for better long-term compatibility, safety, and accuracy, but it does mean that certain cleanup actions (like deleting trash items) may run more slowly, especially on very large databases, but should not cause timeouts in general.

    We actually encountered the same slow behaviour and timeouts when a specific Must-Use Plugin was active (the Kinsta MU plugin). By any chance, do you have this Kinsta MU plugin active on your site?

    No, I don’t use this plugin.

    A direct SQL query is faster than selecting the posts in the trash and deleting them one by one.

    Usually, I have 300 posts in the trash every day because my website has temporary posts, so the new version is now running 300+ deletion queries instead of 1 query.

    Today, the plugin didn’t find anything to clean up, but I had 310 posts in the trash, and I had to refresh the page like 5 times to see the items to clean up

    And again, there is something wrong with the comments in the trash counter. I don’t have any comments in trash, and it is showing I have 14 items there

    Hi José,

    Please upgrade to version 4.0.2, all previously reported issues have been resolved.
    We are now working on improving data loading and display for very large sites, especially within the postmeta section.
