A security plugin such as “All in one WordPress Security” or WordFence is essential.
Suggest that you search the plugins system here for your needs.
Why do I get the feeling I am doing someone’s homework.
There is no single plugin necessary for all websites. Period. There just isn’t. What there are, are plugins you need to make your site do what you need 🙂

special thanks to ross for doing someone’s homework. 😉 but i am talking about general plugin for some common reasons like security, SEO, Loading time etc. so, is there any other common reason can be ?
There isn’t “one” answer.
For example, some people need minification plugins, while others use server tools like PageSpeed to do that for them. Security? I have a firewall on my server that does a better job than any plugin could possibly do, complete with alerts when files change. SEO? Your theme can do that without need for a plugin.
So I’m serious when I say there cannot possibly be one answer for everyone. The best one for you requires you to look up and study them 🙂

hope u can understand that i am just newbie to this… but from 6 months i have been learning about this and one thing u taught me very valuable today that theme can do ur SEO coz lots of poeople install extra plugins without any use just coz of their fancy names.. 🙂
