Thank you for your report. It looks like there’s some sort of problem with the way MLA is supporting taxonomies in the Media Manager Modal Window (MMMW) on your site, e.g., the Media/Library “grid” view or selecting an image to add to a post, page or gallery in admin mode.
When you fill the grid of image thumbnails in the MMMW, MLA prepares taxonomy support for the “ATTACHMENT DETAILS” pane that displays when you select an image. The problem occurs when MLA cannot find a taxonomy label, such as “Categories” or “Att. Tags”.
I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version that may correct the problem and also has some debug log messages that would help diagnose it. It would be most helpful if you can install the Development Version and run some tests. The Development Version has no other changes from v3.30 beyond the possible fix and log messages.

Once the Development Version is installed you can retest the handling of taxonomy labels in the MMMW. To activate MLA’s debug logging:
- Navigate to the Settings/Media Library Assistant Debug tab.
- Scroll down to the “MLA Reporting” text box and enter “0x401“. This will turn on MLA debug logging for this specific AJAX operation.
- Click the Save Changes button to record your new setting.
- Optionally, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click “Reset” to clear the error log. You may not want to do this depending on how you manage your error log.
You should be able to see some messages in the log that contain “DEBUG: MLAModal_Ajax::mla_attachment_fields_to_edit_filter“. Only one set of messages is logged each time the MMMW is filled, so just a few messages should appear. You can post them here or contact me at my web site if email would be more convenient. I can post a summary here when the issue is resolved.
The fix will be part of my next MLA version, but in the interim it would be great if you could install the Development Version and let me know if it works for you.
If the problem persists you can avoid it by disabling some MLA options:
- Go to the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab.
- Scroll down to the “Media Manager/Media Grid Enhancements” section.
- Uncheck the boxes for the “Media Manager Checklist meta boxes” and “Media Manager Flat meta boxes” options.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Save Changes” to record the new setting.

I found and fixed a small error in the debug logging logic I added to the 20251202 Development Version. I have uploaded a new Development Version dated 20251206. Please use that new version for your testing. Thanks for your help; I regret any inconvenience.

I have released MLA v3.31, which contains the fix for this problem and retains the debug log logic outlined above in case you still have a problem.
