I cannot connect with Google Search Console
-
Hello,
I like to connect my Google account with Google Search Console in Burst Integration. The button Enable Google Search Console has been activated before. However, the connection does not work although I have been trying it again and again but without success. Finally, the following message appears: “The connection timed out. Please try again.” Your help would be appreciated.

can you go to Tools – Site Health – info, then open the burst debug information panel, and look up
“Google Search Console Activity”. There should be some logs there. Can you paste that here?
Hello,
Please find required information attached. Today morning I was trying again to connect: “Waiting for authorization in the Google window:” After a while the message appears: The connection timed out. Please try again.”
Regards,
Dagmar Kaufmanncan you paste the info? The attachment doesn’t seem to have been included.
I am sorry, I have copied and pasted with screenshots the burst_debug information. But it did not seem to work. Now, the website link should work.

Now I could copy the report.

The part of Google Search Console was missing in the 1st report.
Thanks, the log helps. Your attempts do reach Google, but the browser window never returns to your site. Could you try once more and send a screenshot of what the popup window shows when Burst reports the timeout? Also, does the Google account you pick have access to Search Console for gedichtekurzgeschichte.de, and which browser are you using?
If your browser blocks popups and/or cookies, it will also fail, in that case please ensure that your browser can store cookies, and can open the popup from Google.
Hello,
I use the Microsoft Edge Browser which is up-to-date. The settings recommended are: Cookies are allowed to read and to store except the cookies from third-parties which are blocked. Today morning I was trying again to connect with Google Search Console. During the connection process the Google popup windows appears but it was empty (see 2nd screenshot with the source code). Please find 3 screenshots enclosed.

Thank you, the source code screenshot is very helpful. The popup did reach your site: the page you see is Burst’s own callback page, which rejected the request as expired. So Google, cookies and popups all work. Two things could cause this.
First, the current version allows 5 minutes for the Google step; if the authorization takes longer, it is rejected. Second, a caching plugin can remove the temporary connection record before the popup returns (if it is set to clear transients continuously). You could try with the process with caching plugins disabled.
Could you open Tools → Site Health → Info → Burst Debug Information → Google Search Console Activity and paste the two most recent lines (one “oauthstart” and one “oauthcallback”) including their times?
Also, roughly how long did the Google window take from opening to closing? I’ll extend the time window, and I’ll see if I can make the record more robust against caching plugins.
Hello,
I use 2 caching plugins: Docket cache which is a persistent object cache and super page cache which is a site cache. Unfortunately, I cannot deactivate them because they are important for the functionality of the website.
When I connect with Google Search Console, after the popup of Burst to wait some seconds, the Google windows appears to login in my Google account including the 2 factor authentification which takes a while because Google does not always respond immediately. After the Burst windows appears to ask for authorization to my Google account including my google email address. During this conneting process between Burst and Google the first screenshot “Waiting for authorization in the Google window”… is running all the time. It runs from the beginning of the connection process until the connection time has run out. I would say the complete connection process takes more than 5 minutes Maybe, it helps to extend the time frame.
Please see above the information required.
Best regards,
Dagmar KaufmannOk, the time frame will be extended in the next update, please try again after updating, and let me know if that resolves it for you.
Can you try updating to the 3.7 version, then try again? The window is now extended to 10 minutes.
Hello,
I have just tried to connect but without success. The Burst/Google popup window keeps empty again. If this problem cannot be solved I use Burst statistics only which has worked for me before.
I have checked the statistics to compare from the last 90 days from 13.06. until 10.09.2026 with the statistics on the WordPress dashboard (2nd screenshots). There is a difference between them. The statistics below compares the figures from the last 90 days. Does the 3rd screenshot show the website traffic from 13.06.2026 until 10.09.2026? This information is new for me and very useful.
Best regards,
Dagmar Kaufmann
The visitors complete in the dashboard should be 48 as well (since yesterday) instead of 46. The website bounce rate complete should be 9 visitors instead of 5. The website visits complete should be 1554 instead of 396. With the last Burst plugin version the statistics in the dashboard with reference to the time period was always the same with the statistics to compare with reference to the time period.

Hi @dagmarkaufmann Thanks for the careful comparison, that helped a lot. Your data is fine. Since 3.7 the Compare block counts sessions, visitors and bounces directly from the sessions table, and that count still includes visits that only requested non-existing pages (404 hits). The other dashboard blocks leave those out, which is why Compare shows higher figures while pageviews are identical in both. We will align this in the next update so every block follows the same rule again.
