So I have 70 pieces of digital downloadable artwork I am going to sell in my shop. I have set up three options to choose from: Personal Use, Usage Fee, and Exclusive Rights. The names and prices of all three will be the same for ALL 70 pieces of art. I have read dozens of files on how to accomplish this, as well as using AI who just takes me in circles, to looking through the forum and I have not found any answers.

I have set the attribute as Purchase Options and the variables as Personal | Usage Fee | Exclusive Rights along with the pricing. It works fine in the first one, but when I go to add another piece of art, and pull the drop down there is nothing there (from the first one) and there is NO GLobal Attribute Option showing at all.

Help please? I am computer literate but not geek goddess literate so be easy with me 🙂 Thank you in advance!

    Hi @oceanbuddha,

I understand how much work you have already put into setting up your product options and I can imagine how confusing it feels when the global attribute you created works for the first product but does not appear for the others. I will help you get this sorted so each of your 70 artwork pieces can use the same Purchase Options setup without needing to recreate anything.

From what you described, it sounds like the attribute used on your first product may have been created as a custom attribute inside the product instead of a global attribute added through Products, Attributes. Custom attributes only stay within a single product, while global attributes appear in the dropdown list for every product.

To confirm this, please go to Products, Attributes in your dashboard and check if “Purchase Options” is listed there globally. If not, you can create it again at that location, then edit your existing product to make sure you are selecting the global version instead of a custom one. Here is the guide that walks you through managing global attributes step by step https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-product-taxonomies/#product-attributes. Once the global attribute is set correctly, every new product will show it in the dropdown when you choose Add Existing.

If you can, please also share a screenshot of what you see on the second product when you click the attribute dropdown using https://snipboard.io so I can take a closer look and direct you further. Looking forward to helping you get everything running smoothly.

With your help, I was able to fix it. You were right, I was doing individual products. I did go to products attributes but did not see a “Global” anywhere, and after reading the instructions you gave me, I realized there was no actual “Global” 🙂 So I was able to get that part fixed. How do I do the same thing for my variables? All 70 images are going to have the same three price points. Right now I am having to do those for each pic along with a description. Is there a way to make that “global” too??

You have been very patient and have given me clarity. I am so so grateful!!!

    Hi @oceanbuddha,

I’m so glad we got the global attribute sorted out! You’re absolutely right, there isn’t a specific “Global” label, it’s just that attributes created under Products → Attributes are automatically global and available for all products.

For your pricing question, I have some great news! Since you’re using the same three price points across all 70 artworks, there are a couple of efficient approaches:

Option 1: Once you’ve added your global “Purchase Options” attribute to each product and created the variations (Personal | Usage Fee | Exclusive Rights), you can set the same prices for each variation type across all products. While you’ll still need to enter prices for each product’s variations, you can speed this up significantly.

Option 2: For managing 70 products with identical pricing structures, you might want to look at the Bulk Table Editor extension. This tool allows you to bulk edit variation prices across multiple products at once, which could save you tons of time with your setup.

The key thing is that once you have your global attribute set up correctly (which you do now!), adding it to new products becomes much faster – just select it from the “Add existing” dropdown, choose your three values, save attributes, then create the variations.

I hope that helps. Let us know if you need anything else.
