Hi there, I have the problem that the dialogs on the front end are in English.

If I remember correctly, I installed Solid Security before I switched the site language to German.

Is there a way to translate all dialogs and buttons to German, or re-initate the plugin, so it detects the site language and chooses the translation automatically?

    Thanks!

Edit: I am going through the German translation and suggesting translations where they are missing. What’s the process and how long does it normally take to get those suggested translations to be implemented? I am working on those: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/better-wp-security/stable/de/default/?filters%5Bstatus%5D=untranslated&page=2

Sorry for double posting, but I can’t modify my initial post anymore. Just wanted to report that I carefully translated all non translated in the German language. I made everything informal tho’… And at the end of the day I would need Swiss German. But to be honest, I see a lot of plugins translated in a informal manner in the regular version.

Issue remains, how long will it take to approve the translations, or can I download the language files with my changes, without approval?

If it helps, I really really need the translation of the lines that describe the 2FA process released! It’s not practical to have German speaking people decipher the English description. I tried altering the existing .mo or .po and the .pot files. But there’s 153 files in the /wp-content/languages/plugins folder of various kind (.json, .mo and .po file extensions) and there’s a .pot in the plugin folder itself. Unfortunately replacing them manually with the German added did not work.

    Hey AlFrame,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Translations for Solid Security Basic are handled through the official WordPress.org translation system, which is managed by a community of volunteers. You can find and contribute to the Solid Security Basic translation project here:
    https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/better-wp-security

Our team doesn’t directly control those translation files, but like anyone else, we can suggest translations there. If you’d like to help improve or update translations, I’d encourage you to get involved—it’s a great way to contribute!

If you need to translate specific strings on your own site quickly, you can use a plugin like Loco Translate:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/loco-translate/

That will let you customize the translations locally without waiting for updates on WordPress.org.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Kevin. Yeah, I contributed a whole bunch in German and German (Switzerland). I tried to be accurate.

The process of how to accelerate approvals is highly detailed, but very confusing. And looking at some dates of many of the suggested changes, this could take ages.

I was hoping that I could manually translate the most important ones and replace the language files. But that area seems messy. There’s a .pot file in the plugin/language folder.

Then there’s a whole bunch of files in the wp-content/languages/plugins folder:
    better-wp-security-de_DE.l10n.php
    better-wp-security-de_DE.mo
    better-wp-security-de_DE.po

In the same folder there’s 152 .json files which contain “better-wp-security-de_DE-…” in the name.

I wonder is you have any documentation on which files are actually used in the plugin? Trial and error did not work so far. translating any of the regular files, not the .json files, did not result in German text on the front end.

I could then manually keep my version around until the approval process is through.

So yeah, I’ll probably give loco a shot.

    Hi @alframe,

Getting the text in the 2FA on-boarding dialog boxes translated in German can be done as illustrated in the screenshots below:

    Screen1

    Screen2

    Screen3

The links should work now 😉

Thanks! But… The link goes to “The share you are looking for does not exist.”

I did translate it using Loco.

But I would very much apricate if you if could share that screenshot again. It was doable with Loco, but cumbersome.

    Hi @alframe,

It’s been a while I shared links. My apologies. Links should work now.

The translations are based on an export (only matching the filter) to Portable Object Message Catalog (.po/.pot) of German Stable (latest release) 43% from translate.wordpress.org –> 2448 strings.
