I can log in perfectly fine with Cyberduck (macOS).

Using exactly the same credentials, I cannot log in with UpdraftPlus.

    What’s up?

What is the error message that you are getting?

Simply a failure to log in.

Is it a port issue? Ipage tells me to use 21.

    Hi,

It sounds like UpdraftPlus can connect but isn’t able to create or write files on your FTP server.
In most cases, this happens because the remote path (the folder path entered in the FTP settings) is incorrect or doesn’t have write permissions.

Please double-check or try adjusting the remote path — for example, if it’s currently /, try something like /public_html/ or /backups/ (depending on your host’s setup).
Also, make sure the FTP user has full write access to that folder.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

@bcrodua that makes no sense. As I wrote, I log in with exactly the same credentials in a FTP client and can upload anything I want there. It is a public folder – ReFrame is the directory in which the WordPress installation resides. And the images in this thread.

21 is the standard port for ftp so that should be fine.

The error message is suggesting that something is wrong with your credentials.

Are you certain the username and password is entered correctly (I obviously can’t verify this).

Can you try re-setting your FTP password?

Here is our guide on this in case it is helpful: https://teamupdraft.com/documentation/updraftplus/topics/cloud-storage/ftp-fstp/troubleshooting/my-ftp-credentials-are-not-working-what-should-i-do/

I decided to use Dropbox. Just easier than troubleshooting this.
