created a home server, downloaded xampp and installed WordPress, I have a GoDaddy domain name and was wondering how I can get that domain name to point to WordPress on my localhost, was not sure if I needed to adjust something in a WordPress file or maybe in my firewall

Your project primarily concerns your own network in which you want to operate the server. You must forward incoming requests from outside to the internal server. You will need to ask the support team for the device you are using for this how to proceed.

At the same time, you also need to set up your upstream proxy/firewall so that you regularly report the current IP to your domain host, ensuring that it points to the correct IP. Ask GoDaddy support how to do this.

Only when all of this has been clarified and requests are coming in can you start thinking about WordPress. There, you will need to see how to store the domain – this also depends on the structure of your network. WordPress as software cannot provide you with any further support in this regard.
