Feature Request: Flex-Grow – Flex Shrink – Flex-Basis
-
Hello!
I love the addon, and feel at this point it’s so “in-tune” with the wordpress-way-of-things that it’s features should be integrated “out of the box” as part of the default gutenberg editing solution.
I have tinkered with many addons like this, and I prefer your solution over all others and makes for some great flexibility in page designs. However, there are a couple-things I’m still often finding myself wishing for that requires me to either apply custom-css overrides to achieve.
In another block plugin named GenerateBlocks, there are controls for Flex Grow, Flex Shrink, and Flex Basis. These are pretty great tools for controlling the flow of a page and shape of certain elements when resizing, and if they existed on the flex-properties of the premium blocks, it would really smooth out the experience of fine-tuning the way elements grow.
One area this is very useful is things like “cards” where we might want the alignment of a button to be at the bottom, but the element containing the text to “grow” to a height that matches others in the row. Here’s an example (blocked in colors to show what I mean ^^)
Can also be combined with width percentages and/or basis to create this type of view where the grow for the text height still aligns.
I know you have the “equal height” option, but in testing I couldn’t get it to work reliably enough to leverage it well, so I’ve preferred to leverage flex-grow which seems to work great!
Maybe I’m getting too “in the woods” with my example, but hopefully it’s clear what I’m asking for.
Thanks for all you do and the addon is absolutely fantastic! No rush, but if this is something that could get added at some point in the future I’d be very thankful!
This is what it looks like in GenerateBlocks, in case it helps!
^^Edit: local images didn’t stick, so I uploaded them to imgur to share, my apologies!
