Fatal error on plugin activation

    When i install the plugin and activate it for the first time, this error occurs :

    WordPress version 6.8.3
    Thème actif : Twenty Twenty-Five (version 1.3.3)
    Extension actuelle : Companion Auto Update (version 3.9.3)
    PHP version 8.4.14

    Une erreur de type E_ERROR a été causée dans la ligne 74 du fichier /wp-content/plugins/companion-auto-update/companion-auto-update.php.

    Message d’erreur : Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function cau_menloc() in /wp-content/plugins/companion-auto-update/companion-auto-update.php:74

    Tried on multiple installation, reproduced the error each time.

    I just wanted to follow up on this thread by @quentinldd, as it seems there hasn’t been a response nor update for a few months.

    I’m also experiencing the same issue on several current setups:

    • WordPress 6.9.4
    • Companion Auto Update 3.9.3
    • PHP 8.4.16

    The error (Call to undefined function cau_menloc() in line 74) occurs immediately after activation and is reproducible across multiple installations. After that error, the plugin seems to work so far, but it is a major inconvenience in the workflow of an otherwise great plugin.

    Could you please let us know if this plugin is still being maintained and whether a fix (especially for PHP 8.4 compatibility) is planned?
