    Hi,

Yesterday I used Jetpack social for the first time and posted some of my posts to my Instagram. Today I tried to do this to another post and I get the error: ‘Post not shared’ in the side bar of the WordPress post (below Jetpacks ‘Preview and Share’ button). I tried everything on the troubleshoot page.

Clear history and cache, reconnecting through Facebook, WordPress and Jetpack, different browser, confirmed open tags in source, different featured images, deactivated Yoast and Security plugins.

    Nothing seems to work.

    Any ideas?

    Kind regards. Remi

    Hi there, @nvrbnbttr,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble, but thanks for reaching out.

I checked the latest Social sharing attempt, and the system logged this error related to your attempted Instagram share:

Determined that this instagram-business connection (Never been better) could not be shared for this post because no media was attached. This happens when no featured image or attached media is set for Instagram Business

Can you confirm that your post didn’t have any feature image? If so, can you try adding it and re-share it, to see if that works?

Let me know how you get on, thanks!

    Hi @erania-pinnera !

Thanks for your response. My post does have a featured image, but I did found something odd with it. When I click share the first time another image from ‘inside the blog text’ is shown in the sharing preview. Then I close it and click share again and the real featured image is now shown. It is also the only post I have with more pictures in the blog besides the featured image. I tested another blog without images and it works fine. Really seems to be this specific post.

    This might be a clue?

    Kind regards,

    Remi

    Hi there, @nvrbnbttr,

Thanks for sharing these details. It’s good news to hear that the issue seems to be involving only one post, which is great – that doesn’t mean it won’t reoccur with similar post’s structure, so you did well in testing and reporting back 🙂

The way social media “pick” the images isn’t something we can thoroughly manage: WordPress can indicate the best picture to display in the sharing post by setting up a feature image for the post, though at the end of the day the social media “decides” what the best image could be for thumbnail purposes. There are some specific settings for social media images you can consult to facilitate a specific image choice on any social media. Instagram image specifications are also highlighted here.

I hope this answers your question! Try testing these a bit and let us know if the problem re-occurs and if you have other questions – or in case that didn’t answer your request 🙂

    Hi @erania-pinnera

Thanks for putting the effort and try and think with me. I had found these specifications already and tested with it. I just tried it again now to be sure, but I still have the same problem. At this point I just posted this post manually and will be able to use this work around in the future when needed.

Again thanks, but I’ll leave it for now 🙂

    Kind regards, Remi
