As part of the installation UM installation said it was updating the database but then also said that the database was empty. I had already found that UM used “role” in WP User Meta, and either those fields were removed or you changed the field name during the upgrade.
So if I don’t want to roll back anything but UM I’m not sure there is a viable option.
