    This is a feature request, not a request for support:

    For malicious http(s) requests, in addition to block or throttle the request, I would love to have the functionality to drop the request. Not to respond with a 404 or 503 response, just drop the request and have the client timeout. I.E. the same functionality that firewalls offer (IPTABLES or NFTABLES).

    That’s out of scope for WordPress and normally handled by a plugin or WAF.

    Best handled by your webserver rules (i.e. nginx rule) or .htaccess

    You can use “6G firewall” which is available both as WordPress plugin or a set of .htaccess rules
