I’m using it on the latest version of WordPress, but I only use it for management of featured article images and when I get time later this year I’m going to move back to NextGen since nobody seems to be updating NextCellent. Others have reported various bugs and had no support. I agree this is disappointing as the plugin broadly does a good job of the basics.
I’m using WP 5.2.2, and NextGen’s working ok, although I mostly use the back end.
Yes, there are a few bugs, but most can be worked around.
I’m using the Gutenberg shortcode block for the ‘singlepic’ shortcode, and it works okay.
hm. sounds promising so far. yes, it’s disappointing that a plugin this has fallen into the cracks. I imagine with over 10k installations, that there’s a fair number of people who wonder what’s happened with it.
It does work okay. I am not a demanding user, only post singlepics or galleries and no slideshows.
I looked into NextGen today, it’s now out of Photocrati’s hands, maintained by Imagely, who are pressing for upgrades but in general the current free NextGen is working displaying images on a simple site so far.
Suggest trying the free version and seeing if the Settings and features are adequate. Likely has had more development than NextCellent has had recently.
Bottom price for more features and themes is 149, so it’s more geared toward pros if you want all the ecommerce and printing and so forth.
I switched back to NextGEN Gallery 2 years ago, it works fine. I use the free version in a combination with Justified Image Grid gallery, which is a good and affordable solution to display beautiful galleries.
