I’m using Neve on WordPress.com and need to confirm whether the theme supports native excerpt-based search results—without plugin dependency or spinner behavior.

I’ve tested GeneratePress, which delivers clean excerpt search but fails PageSpeed thresholds. Neve delivers excellent speed but breaks search fidelity. I’m looking for a theme that delivers both:

    1. ✅ Neve-level PageSpeed scores
    2. ✅ Clean, excerpt-based search output (no spinner, no title-only results)

Does Neve support this natively, or is excerpt search only achievable via plugin (e.g., Relevanssi)? If plugin-based, is there any workaround for WordPress.com users who cannot install custom plugins?

    Thanks for your time.

  • Hi there,

Thank you for getting in touch with us!

Neve’s standard search functionality relies on the default WordPress search. I’m not exactly sure what you mean by “Native Excerpt-Based Search Behavior”. Can you please share more specific details about that?

    Thank you!

    Thanks for the reply.

By “native excerpt-based search behavior,” I’m referring to search results that display post excerpts (not just titles), without requiring JavaScript spinners or plugin-based enhancements. Specifically:

✅ Static HTML output of excerpts in search results ❌ No AJAX spinner or dynamic loading ❌ No plugin dependency (e.g., Relevanssi)

GeneratePress achieves this natively—search results show clean excerpts without plugins or spinners. Neve, by contrast, seems to return title-only results unless enhanced via plugin, which WordPress.com users cannot install.

Can you confirm whether Neve supports excerpt output in search results without plugin dependency? If not, is there a theme in your ecosystem that matches Neve’s PageSpeed performance and delivers native excerpt-based search fidelity?

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

The search results in Neve will appear in the same way as you have your Blog posts set up. Meaning, that if you decided to show the excerpts there, it will show up in the Search results as well. I’ve created a short recording showcasing this https://vertis.d.pr/v/6QkuEs

    Hope this helps.

    I appreciate your reply.

The default search for excepts appears to show the item[s] being search for as they appear in post titles.

Happily I was able to enhance this search by installing the JetPack Search widget which refines the terms being sought to all posts as they may appear within each respective post by relevance which for my purposes works very well.

I might add how happy I am with the Neve Theme. From the moment I activated it my Google Page Speed Scores improved greatly.

    Thank you

    Lewis
