I updated the woocommerce plugin from version 9.8.5 to version 9.9.4. However, the database appears as 9.8.5. It does not update with the database update button in the woocommerce—->tools section. There is no database update link anywhere in the admin panel.

This problem occurred on two different sites.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @atlantis1525,

Welcome to the WooCommerce forum, and thanks for reaching out! I understand how confusing and frustrating it can be when the WooCommerce database doesn’t update properly, especially after a plugin update and on more than one site. You’re absolutely right to want this resolved quickly.

Just to clarify, when you visit WooCommerce → Status → Tools, are you saying the “Update database” option isn’t listed there at all? If possible, could you please share a screenshot or short screen recording of what you’re seeing on that screen? That will help us understand exactly what’s going on.

Also, please share your System Status Report so we can review your environment. You can get this from WooCommerce → Status → Get system report, then paste the contents into https://pastebin.com and share the link with us here.

Once we have that, we’ll guide you through the next steps to get everything working correctly!

No, that’s not what I mean. When I visit WooCommerce → Status → Tools, there is an option to “Update database” and clicking on this option does not work.

    And system report :

    Hi @atlantis1525,

Thanks so much for following up and for sharing your System Status Report!

I can confirm from the report that your WooCommerce database does still need an update. I understand that the “Update database” button is visible under WooCommerce → Status → Tools, but clicking it doesn’t trigger any action, which is not intended to happen.

Before we take a closer look, could you please try running a quick conflict test by deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and switching to a default theme like Storefront? Then head back to WooCommerce → Status → Tools and try the database update again.

If the issue still persists, please share a screenshot or short screen recording of what you see when clicking the database update button; that’ll help us troubleshoot this more accurately.

Looking forward to your update! Let’s get this sorted.

After deactivating all plugins and activating the storefront theme, I clicked the database update button. However, the database was not updated. The screenshot is as follows:

    Hi @atlantis1525 ,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this.

I’m sorry to hear the database isn’t updating properly, even after switching to Storefront and deactivating all other plugins. That can definitely be frustrating when you’re trying to keep everything up to date.

Starting in WooCommerce 9.9.x, database updates happen automatically in the background — you can see more on that here: WooCommerce GitHub – Background DB Updates.

To make sure the update process is actually running, would you mind checking for any pending or failed actions related to woocommerce_run_update_callback? You can do that by heading over to WooCommerce → Status → Scheduled Actions, and filtering by “Pending” or “Failed.” If you see any actions with that name, try clicking Run (or Run Now) next to them to trigger the update manually.

Let us know what you find — we’ll be happy to help you take it from there.

Thank you very much. It was in pending status and I guess it was not working. The problem was solved with the run link.

Also, there were updates waiting here, I ran them too.

    Hi @atlantis1525,

That’s great to hear, and I’m happy the issue was resolved by manually running the pending action from the Scheduled Actions page! Thank you for confirming what worked; this will help others who may face the same problem.

If WooCommerce has been helpful for your store and you appreciate the support you’ve received, we’d truly appreciate it if you could leave us a quick 5-star review here: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce/reviews/#new-post
