    Hello,

I am experiencing a recurring issue with my WooCommerce regarding the sending of order confirmation and new order emails. Until recently, everything was working perfectly, but lately, I have been increasingly receiving the following error when emails are sent automatically:

    http_request_failed: ["cURL error 35: OpenSSL SSL_connect: SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL in connection to api.mailjet.com:443"]

Here are some additional details about my environment:

    • WordPress 6.8.3
    • WooCommerce 10.3.0
    • WP Mail SMTP 4.6.0 (Mailer configured with Mailjet)
    • Hosting: OVH

The issue is that emails no longer send automatically, which impacts communication with my customers. Occasionally, I am able to manually resend emails using the “resend” button in WP Mail Logging, but this is not a sustainable solution in the long term.

Has anyone encountered this type of error before and could advise me on how to resolve it?

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hi @curvata ,

    Thanks for reaching out.

The error indicates that there’s an issue with the cURL library in your server and this is not specific to the plugin. You may need to contact your hosting provider and provide them with this error message and they should be able to fix it for you. It’s likely that the cURL library needs to be updated.

In case it helps to mention, this page on the Bobcares.com website outlines the causes of a cURL error and how to address them.

Alternatively, you may consider switching to a different mailer option. In some cases, we find that only a specific mailer/API will run into issues on a site while other options will work just fine. We highly recommend SendLayer, our #1 recommended mailer option, which is known to run without any cURL issues and is easy to use!

You can see all the available mailers here.

    Hope this helps. Thanks 🙂

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
Indeed, it’s a compatibility issue between my hosting environment and the minimum version required by Mailjet. Since this is shared hosting, I’m very limited when it comes to updating or changing the server configuration.
So, I’ll keep using Mailjet only for my email campaigns, as I already have a yearly premium subscription, and I’ll switch the order confirmation emails to Brevo’s free plan, which is more than sufficient.
    Thanks!
