Hi! This is my very first website, and most of the time, I have no clue what I’m doing. This is the first time I’ve received this “Critical Error” message after a year of using WordPress. I have no clue how to fix this.

I’m not sure if this is important, but I manage WordPress through Softaculous. I had updated WordPress to the newer version and two other plugins. One of which was Amelia, this plugin was already not working, and I was trying to fix it by adding a shortcode block. Then the next day, I received the critical error message. I do have paid plugins, Amilea and Kubio. If someone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi @aleesca05, I just visited the website and it appears to be working well, when is the critical error message appearing and have you taken steps to fix it already? Given the site is working, I’m not sure what you are asking for help with?

This forum can’t help with paid plugins, so you will need to reach out to the Amelia team about any issues there.

The reason for the error should be visible in the error log. You can find it in your hosting area. If necessary, the support of your hosting can help you.

Alternatively, you could also enable debugging in WordPress. How to do this is described here: https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ – also here the support of your hosting can help you if necessary to edit the file accordingly.

In both cases you should be able to see what the cause is in the logfile.

Hi @dillonlanier, I know the website works, but from the admin side, it doesn’t. I haven’t taken any steps since I don’t know what I’m doing. I also know this forum can’t help with my paid plugins since this is WordPress. I’ve contacted the Amelia team already about my problems with their plugin, which has been broken since way before the error. And with this critical error, I haven’t received any email about any errors, so like I said, I have no clue what I’m doing.

    Hello @aleesca05
Have you tried debugging mode in WordPress? You can get an idea about where is the error exactly. You can enable debug mode from wp-config.php file.
In the error log you will get the error notification as well. You can check error logs at your hosting side.
