Hi there,
Thanks for trying Podcast player.
Podcast player shows two types of images in the player.
1. Cover image which is the main header image shown only in the podcast header. In our case, it appear when you click on the podcast icon at the bottom left of the player.
2. Episode featured image. It is featured image for individual episodes taken from the feed. This is the jumbo sized image you are talking about.
Podcast player has a feature to download episode’s featured image to local WordPress media folder and load smaller images automatically. You just ensure following steps,
1. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Podcast player > Settings and make sure that Image Optimization option is checked.
2. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Podcast player > Toolkit and “Reset” a feed.
3. Load the podcast player front-end page and wait for few minutes.
Podcast player should download and display small sized images for the podcast.
Please inform if this method work for you Or you need more help on this.
Thanks,
-

Thanks for the fast reply and explanations, much appreciated.
My main concern is with page load. I turned off the cover image, but leaving on the featured image. When the page loads now, I get one image loading per shortcode/player, which is fine. Although it would be great if there was a way to replace the featured image with an image specified in the shortcode. The images in podcast feeds are generally very big.
Regardless, thanks for all your work on this plugin.

Hi there,
I understand your concern. I will provide some method where you can override featured image with shortcode cover image. Using that you should be able to display one small size custom image for each podcast.
I am keeping this ticket open and will inform once the feature is implemented.
Thanks,
That would be amazing. Thank you!
