I have Posts organized under categories, but I don’t necessarily want the ‘category’ base to display in the URL.

    Current URL structure: domainname.com/category/booboo/foghouse
    Obviously I want this: domainname.com/booboo/foghouse/

    So I did this:
    Permalink Settings: Custom Structure /%category%/%postname%/
    Category base: .

Every link that attempted to go to “domainname.com/booboo/foghouse” that is related to a category results in an Error 404. When I remove the Custom Structure/Category base in the Settings and set the Permalinks back to “Post name”, everything works fine.

I’m not using any SEO or Redirect plugins, if it matters.

    Any advice?
    Thank you!

    Hi @toad78,

Putting a period (.) in your custom links is likely to break it. If you just leave it blank, then you should get the desired results.

    Please let us know!

    Kind Regards,
    Tim
