Hi @jodword,
WordPress has a built in Font Library for this, no plugin or code needed. As of WordPress 7.0 it has its own menu: Appearance > Fonts. On earlier versions it lives inside the Site Editor, under Styles > Typography > the gear icon labeled “Manage fonts”.
Both EB Garamond and Inter are part of the bundled Google Fonts collection, so you can install them directly from there:
- Open Appearance > Fonts (or Site Editor > Styles > Typography > Manage fonts if you don’t see that menu).
- Go to the Install Fonts tab and search for EB Garamond, pick the weights you need, and install. Do the same for Inter.
- Go back to Site Editor > Styles > Typography, pick the element you want to change (Text, Headings, Buttons, etc.) and select the newly installed font from the list.
This works independently of the theme’s built in style variations, so you’re not limited to the font pairings that ship with Twenty Twenty-Five. If you want to reuse the combination later, you can save it as your own style variation from the same Styles panel, no theme files or child theme needed.
One thing worth checking: installing a font downloads the files from Google’s collection, so your local dev machine needs internet access during that step (it doesn’t need it afterward, since the files get hosted locally on your site). Since you’re using Local, that should work fine as it’s the machine’s own internet connection, not something tied to the site being publicly live yet.
