Changes not showing on view page
-
Hello
Trying to edit pages but I’m noticing that changes are not showing up on the view page. Google search suggested clearing the browser cache and hard reset. No help. Any suggestions? Thanks in adavance.

Are you using any sort of caching plugin, or do you see a “Clear/Purge Cache” button in your Dashboard or admin bar? If so, would you please try clearing the cache?
Note: You do not need to install a caching plugin at this point just to clear a cache you don’t have. If you don’t have a caching plugin or a way to clear a server-level cache, just say so. š
Hey @stevehaslet sorry for the inconvenience, I understand its indeed frustrating on your end when you try saving changes then fail to see them in the frontend. Good job for trying to clear browser cache despite being a noobie.
Okay, so if clearing the browser cache didn’t work, then most probably your site has a caching plugin.
Go to your plugins and find the caching plugin then clear cache, or look for a button at the top of the admin dashboard stating “clear cache or “delete cache” and click it. You should now be able to see the changes you save on the website.
Please let me know if this fix actually works, if not you may have to actually contact your hosting.
Thanks,
Jim
Hello,
Thanks for the reply. I dont have a cache program installed. I didnt know that existed. I have two plugins and neither is activated.
Steve
Who is your hosting provider? Also, are you using Cloudflare?
Hosting provider is Hostgator and not using Cloudflare.
Which theme are you using? And how do you go about checking the changes you’ve made? Feel free to show screenshots, see: https://wordpress.org/support/forum-user-guide/block-editor/#adding-screenshots
The active theme is twenty twenty. To make a change i use the edit button in the pages tab. Make the change. Select save. A box pops up in the lower left corner telling me change was made. I select the button that says view. And no changes.
Let me get a screen shot out to you
Hi again @stevehaslet
As you get the screenshot, let’s check this:
When saving your post, try viewing the changes via incognito tab by right-clicking and selecting that option.
If you are able to see the changes, then that means that Hostgator has indeed set a cache on your site which needs to be cleared.
Thanks,
Jim
Well described, but it’s also the completely correct and normal way to proceed in this case. In my test, it worked without any problems in a test system.
Therefore, I also suspect that something may be wrong with your project. You have already ruled out caching plugins, as well as other caching mechanisms.
Can you check under Tools > Site Health to see if there are any anomalies displayed there?
Can you try changing the theme, e.g., to TwentyTwentyOne or TwentyTwentyFive?
Is the project completely new or is it an existing one with a lot of content?
Here is a screenshot of the site health
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jhnCT0r8JM8s_ZclNCpb4hmlWtWNVeMn/view?usp=sharing
the project is totally new, little content
Unfortunately, I cannot access the screenshot because access is restricted. You can also use one of the other platforms described in the above article.
What were the results of the test with the themes?
So sorry. Try the google drive link now I okayed for anyone with the link
working on the themes
changed to twenty twenty one. and the changes are showing!!! thank you for that
I was using twenty twenty because I am using WP101 tutorials and they are using twenty twenty so I could follow along with it. Am I out of luck now and should i just use twenty twentyone
Switch back to TwentyTwenty again. If the content is visible there, then something has been resolved by the switch.
But normally, this shouldn’t happen at all and should run smoothly, as was the case in my test earlier. Of course, I don’t know the tutorials you’re following, but try again with the theme suggested there. If that doesn’t work, maybe start over again.
back to twenty twenty no changes showing on the view page
what do you recommend for a noob to learn WP?
thatnk you so much for your help, have a great day!
